Cashew Dates Halwa



Ingredients

  1. Dates (seeds removed) - 2 Cups
  2. Ghee - 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp + 2 tbsp
  3. Cashews - 1/2 Cup (chopped roughly into small pieces)
  4. Corn Flour - 2 tbsp
  5. Water - 1 Cup + 1/2 Cup
                        
 Method 

  • Soak 2 cups of dates (seeds removed) in 1 cup of water for 30 to 35 min
  • Make it into a fine paste using a mixie grinder                              
  • In a non-stick pan add 2 tbsp of ghee and roast the cashews to a golden-brown colour, remove the cashews from the pan leaving the ghee behind
  • Then add the dates mixture and mix for 15 min, add 1/4 cup of ghee and mix for at least 10 min   
  • Add 2 more tbsp's of ghee and mix for 15 min until the paste thickens like this 👇                                           

  • Make a thin cornflour paste with 2 tbsp of cornflour and 1/2 cup of water                                                                                         
  •  Add the cornflour paste to the dates mixture and mix for 30 min or until the paste thickens                     
  • Add the roasted cashews and keep on stirring until the ghee separates

  • Switch off the flame and transfer the mixture to a greased tray and pat it with a spatula or spoon 
  • Let it rest until it comes to room temperature
  • Cut it into small cubes and Enjoy
